You can output character data whenever required in a CL script using the PUNCH command. You may specify that all data locations are to be output or you may specify part of the area. For example to output a new record of 350 characters from data locations 2001 upwards:

punch $2001-2350,

The L (list) command may also be used to output character data, using run control parameter STRIPRPT is used. The output in this case is put to the Report file.
