There are various ways to underline text in CL.
If format UAU is set then text enclosed in underscore characters will be underlined on the same line as the text. This method used to underline the characters is not standard and will not work except with the CL printing facilities.
If format UAU is not set (the default) then underscore characters are treated as part of the text.
All other forms of underlining will use the character set by format CTU (Character for Underline). This will give same-line underlining (as above) if CTU is set to the underline character, and next-line underlining if any other character is used.
Format URH (Underline Row Headers) causes all headers (delimited by CDH, CDO or CDS) in stub labels to be underlined using CTU.
Format UCH (Underline Column Headers) causes all headers (delimited by CDH, CDO or CDS) in banner labels to be underlined using CTU.
Label control <U> causes any line of text to be underlined.
Where text is split over a number of lines when output only the last line is underlined.
