Card types (buffers)

For binary data CL maintains a card image area capable of storing 999 different cards per questionnaire (record). The area is divided into buffers numbered 0 to 999. Buffer 0 is reserved and can be used to hold the card most recently read. The other buffers hold the cards read.

Buffer numbers are normally the same as the card types (1 - 999).

Each buffer consists of 80 (or up to 99) columns.
