DPL is a logical format. The standard setting is DPL (true).
It specifies that decimal places are to be discarded for figures too large to print.
This will only take effect if decimal places are specified for the figure; the decimal places are dropped one at a time until the figure fits in the space available. Only if it is still too large to print with no decimal places will it be treated as a figure too large to print.
A warning message will be issued whenever decimal places are discarded under DPL.
