LMA Limit A (minimum cell value)

LMA is a numeric format. The standard setting is LMA0.

Format LMA only takes effect if respondent weighting is used. If a figure is printed whose unweighted value is less than the setting of LMA, a marker is printed to the right of the number. It thus provides a check on weighted data. If sufficient blank space is not available (the marker would be overwritten by the next cell, or would be beyond the page boundary) then an additional line is generated and the marker(s) are placed right-justified under the value.

IMPORTANT: To avoid the generation of an additional line when double makers are used (when SMA and SMB are the same) we recommend using format CLG3 and CHG3 or more.

Format LMA is often used in conjunction with format LMB, which works as LMA, but causes a different marker to be used. Note that LMB can only be set if LMA is also set.
