QPSMR Companion

The QPSMR Command Language is closely linked to the Companion menu system that uses CL to produce tables and reports. The menu system does this by generating a CL script file (suffix .STPN or .STPX) and invoking CL modules to run it.

Companion users can insert CL syntax to be included in tables or manip stages.

Companion users may also access the CL script files that have been generated and alter them to use CL facilities that are not available from the menu system. If this is done we recommend copying the CL script files and giving them a new name so that they will not be overwritten by the menu system at a later date.

If the same changes are needed more than once then these should be placed in a pre-processor insert file, see *INSERT .

CL scripts that define variables in a data stage may be used for Companion Reflect or may be exported to Companion for use by the menu system. For further information see Exporting data from QPSMR.

The menu system may also be used to produce holecount and frequency counts that may be easier to set up than VDT (value distribution tables).
