Add sample to existing sample data

CATI licence only

From the Main window menu select  [CATI] [Add to sample data file] to add additional sample data to an existing sample data file.

IMPORTANT: you must be in the current QDF for the project to do this.  Using another QDF will cause the procedure to behave incorrectly.

The display will show the study name for the project opened.

There are three actions needed which are done in sequence:

Open input file using the sample

You do not open the existing sample data file directly.  Instead you open the QIF file that is being used for interviewing.  This makes sure that you are going to add sample to the sample data file that is being used, not a copy of it that is not being used.

The program will check that there is a matching index file and that the file is not empty.

The display will show the sample file being used and the number of records in that file.

File with sample to add

Select the file that contains the additional records only, to be added to the sample data.  This will usually be a spreadsheet file.

The file is checked to make sure that serial numbers in this file do not conflict with serial numbers already in the sample data file.

The display will show the additional sample file being used and the number of records in that file.

If using Invade it also displays the additional sample ID to be used for this additional sample.

Add records now

This will:

Create a new sample data file with the existing data and the new data included

Create the sample index file

Create a summary report from the new sample data

Create an additional upload file for Invade, if needed
