A spreadsheet file can be created and read by programs such as Excel and OpenOffice. The file will usually be an OpenXML Excel file (.xlsx).
Old Excel files can also be used but the version of Companion (64 bit or 32 bit) must match the version of Excel installed (64 bit or 32 bit). This is not an issue with later Excel files.
You can open a worksheet and treat it as a CSV file.
The first row should contain the headers for the columns. Each column header must be unique. For data files the first column must have the header text "Serial".
If there is more than 1 worksheet in the file then you may be asked which worksheet to use.
