A "None" question has no answer and is used for CATI or CAPI surveys.
It is used to show extra text for the interviewer, or respondent, to read during data input.
It can also display a picture file or video clip file on screen, during an interview.
A "None" question does not use any data locations.
TIP: to display important information to respondents or interviewers during CAPI/CATI, we recommend you include "Instructions", inserting appropriate text and choosing a colour for the text background. See Entry details window, Question tab.
If you set the "Execute" setting is "A" and you have set the command to use in Project global settings, Input tab then this command will be executed when this question is reached.
The command can access a website an can include Carry forward text for example:
https://yoursite/yourpage?Serial=[serial]&Number=[telnum]
You can set a short text in the "execute" box to use this question to call an external ProcessRecord program.
The program with the relevant name is called and the serial, question name, and telnum are passed as arguments.
The program must be called ProcessRecordext.exe where ext is the text used in the "Execute" box.
This feature is useful for CAPI interviews or hall tests to display text introducing a picture or clip, the image/clip itself and then perhaps a series of questions about it.
Most common formats of image and video files can used. Be careful not to include files larger than needed by reducing the resolution or file type.
IMPORTANT: when an input file (.qpsmrinp) is produced local files will be included in the input file, but remote files will not be included and must be accessible during the interview from the original source.
