Data exporting

Companion

There are various ways to export data for use with other programs

Data only exporting

From the Main window you can use [Data] [Export data] to access Data export.

This is used to list the data for individual records and for exporting data to an Excel/OpenXML or CSV file.

For fixed format data, verbatim entries will be empty unless you load them with the data file.

Using a loaded data file you can then output a spreadsheet report that contains:

All or selected records using a filter

Only certain entry types and answer types

Control the way the contents of the cells are produced

Choose selected entries to output from the Main window

The normal type of output produced is described in the Spreadsheet file introduction.

If you use "Listing by entry" each (not empty) entry for a record list listed as a separate row.

You can save the requested export information for re-use later if you will want to do the same export again later.

If you have previously exported a raw data file and saved the export file you can run the export again without intervention in a command file (see Data export):

"...Companion...exe" "...qdf" /export "...xml"

Project only exporting with existing data file

You may need to save the data in fixed format form beforehand.

You can export the entries (metadata) for compatible projects from the Main window menu to:

CL STP file for QPSMR CL and MRDCL

RUN file for Quantum

triple-s XML

SPSS syntax SPS

These exports retain the raw data layout and can be used with the existing raw data files.

TIP: For triple-s and SPSS only the information contained in the data file is exported.

All projects are compatible with CL and Quantum.

IMPORTANT: Any entries in hidden groups will not have their details exported.

Project and data exporting

You can export the entries (metadata) and the data for any project from the Main window File menu to:

triple-s XML

SPSS syntax SPS

These exports create a new project file and a new compatible data file before using those new files for export.

All questions, filters, variables, and supplemental reject responses are exported except entries in hidden groups.

For fixed format data, verbatim entries will be empty unless you load them with the data file.
