Text

This term represents a string of characters, including blanks, to be used for display or printing.

NOTE: the terms text and literal are used in quite different senses in this manual, and different rules apply to each.

Text is always enclosed in single or double quotes.

For svars and mvars the label text can be defined with the variable definition see labels for stub and labels for banner .

Text may be defined immediately after the definition of the variable or table to which it is to be allocated. In this case no variable or table name is needed in the text command.

You should try to avoid splitting a text over a CL script line, but where this cannot be avoided, note that any trailing blanks up to the end of a CL script line will be ignored, and one blank will be inserted between the lines.
