From the Main window menu [Edit] [Select by criteria] is used to select entries.
This enables you to choose entries which meet certain criteria.
You can choose to set the Main window selections:
•Select only these - any previous selections are ignored and only entries that meet the criteria are selected
•Select these as well - previous selections are preserved and any entries that meet the criteria are selected in addition to those already selected
•Deselect these - previous selections are preserved but any selected entries that meet the criteria are deselected (no longer selected)
•Select all but these - any previous selections are ignored and only entries that do not meet the criteria are selected
You can specify one or more of the following criteria. All specified criteria must be met for an entry to be included.
It is possible to select entries by name.
TIP: Name searches are not case sensitive.
This will find any name containing the group of characters chosen.
This uses a "Regular Expression".

You can select all entries that:
•Are indirectly needed for a named entry - this is all the entries that this entry refers to directly plus any entries that these entries refer to, and so on
•Are directly needed for this entry - this is all the entries that this entry refers to directly
•Are direct references to this entry - this is all the entries that refer directly to this entry
•Are indirect references to this entry - this is all the entries that refer directly to this entry, plus any entries that refer to these entries, and so on
The named entry is also selected.
TIP: when changing an entry in an ongoing project you should check all the indirect references to it to make sure that they are still valid.
It is possible to select entries by searching for particular pieces of text in one or more of the main text types:
•Entry texts
•Interviewer instructions
•Response texts
•Base texts
