A grid table has a number of independent columns which are presented side-by-side in a table.
The different types of table are described in the Tables overview and are created using Tables setup.
A grid table is a quick method to set up a typical banked table from similar entries.
To create a grid table you can:
Use a Grid variable pair
Select one entry from a Grid question set or a Grid variable set
When creating a project you can use the Make grid tool window to create these entries.
TIP: To enable most of the text to be produced automatically when the grid variables are created, all the entries should have the same entry text except for a difference that distinguishes this entry from the others. Usually this will mean having the same text except for the end (Qx. Question text - Element text), for example:
Q1_A How did you rate brand A
Q1_B How did you rate brand B
Q1_C How did you rate brand C
If you create a grid table and choose a VGRIDE_name variable as the rows or columns, the banked table will be built automatically:
•All the text from VGRIDE will be used for the columns
•All the text from the paired VGRIDT will be used for the rows
•A column will be produced for every response in VGRIDE using the first entry referred to in the response definition
•The records used in each column is determined by the response definition as normal
You can apply filters, formats, and weights to grid tables as you can for standard tables.
There is an extra option for grid tables to transpose them (switch rows and columns).
